I love this quote from Mark Twain, which I used as the theme of my blog and generally try to make it the theme of my life, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
Since leaving my corporate job last year, life finally got fun and interesting. I always saw myself as the faithful employee who climbed the corporate ladder, but there was a rumbling in my head that just got louder and louder over the past few years. I couldn’t ignore it any longer, so I took an unpaid leave of absence from my job, traveled, met some amazing individuals and learned that there is so much more to life than 80 hour work weeks and Powerpoint presentations. I returned home and resigned from my job and really thought about what I wanted to do next. I grew less afraid of taking risks and started to try new things. Here is my first foray into the world of entrepreneurship – I am combining my love of travel, international development, business, art and creativity into my company. The constant mixture of scariness and excitement are a daily reminder that I am alive and really living for the first time in years!!
